Making onigiri (rice balls) is lots of fun, especially when you know what you’re doing, but laughing at the screw ups are part of it too.
But we made two kinds of onigiri, one of a spicy sausage and the other fresh snapper. Mm, yummy!
Onigiri is basically the Japanese “sandwich” or pick-up and go food. They’re usually filled with pickled plum, salmon, cod roe, etc. so many delicious and diverse flavors and ingredients. But be sure to pair well, that is if you wish not to endure the painful agony of the Hersey-squirts. So DO NOT eat eel and pickled plum together, you will have an upset stomach and one that you will never forget.
But here’s how they turned out, and they look delicious, almost too good to eat.
