It’s that time again (you know when you’re beating your head against the wall till blood starts rushing to the now bruised area) and you’re searching for a place of solace (well not really solace, but in my case it was well needed for that as well) to complete an assignment involving research on a theory of Maslow’s observations of the humans’ innate curiosity. What sucks (not in a toothy, Dracula, bloodsuckers way) is that wherever you go, whether it be around Miracle Mile or US-1, the #1 bookstore that was worth the trouble getting to is no longer (R.I.P Borders). So.. “where to go?” you say. Barnes and Nobles. In the cafe of course. You’re not permitted to sit on the floor no longer. Damn.. How dare they move me from my comfy spot where I can sit and cuddle into my boots and listen to The Spookshow– “Here comes the Zombie” and work on some assignments. *glares*
Sadly, we must all comply to what is asked of us and be the sweet darlings angles we are (then have our fun behind the scenes). haha So upon arrival, before entering Barnes and Nobles, I slipped inside Charlotte Russe and bought a pair of stockings to change out of my business casual and back into my comfy boots/stockings and shorts. Wihoo!! Then it was off to cafe within the bookstore and buy some food then off to reading about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
It is, infact, quite a very interesting article on the study of which focus on the stages of growth in humans. The terms Maslow uses describe the pattern that human motivations generally move through. The terms are: physiological, safety, belongingness and love, esteem, and self-actualization. The studies were done on what he called “exemplary people” such as Albert Einstein, Jane Addams, Eleanor Roosevelt and Frederick Douglas. Reason given for this was because “the study of neurotic, immature, unhealthy ‘specimens’ can yeild only a cripple psychology and philosophy”. So rather than studying the mentally ill or neurotic people, Maslow studied the “elite or exemplary individuals” or the healthiest 1% of the college student population. The theory was fully expressed in his 1954 book Motivation and Personality. In short, the largest and most fundamental levels of needs are at the bottom, and the need for self-actualization at the top (highly important beginning from the bottom to the top in other words).
Here was my outfit for the day (for those of you looking for an idea). The whole ensemble I bought at Charlotte Russe (the clothes). Surprising that even in a regular store I can find some awesome, goth clothes. haha
- lace top
- black shorts
Once having filled my brain with the intriguing information of how the Heirarchy of needs works, it was off to Jess’ home and take a cat-nap and store the freshly introduced material and surprise a certain girl (a.k.a Sammi). Of course, after having given her such a wonderful jolt, our friend Teddy (Jess calls him by) or Vampy (how I’ve called him by) stopped by for a visit and died of tickle attacks and then was put a wig on. I hid in the closet with how scary yet hilarious he looked. I was shocked how he resembled a girl (Jess was right) he does.. X,.,X I died.
We were then out to catch the train with two lovely girls (Vicky and Sammi), haha, although all three of them wore their homestuck shirts (signs) and Jess wore Vicky’s horned hat. haha so cute!
Well, it of to bed, but what’s going to bed with out a little The Spookshow!? My favorite Horror Punk band.
Tons of Love Bites,
